From the chic ambiance to the attentive service, everything was just perfect. But what really stood out was the food. To start our meal, we opted for the Wild Mushroom Soup (RM16+), made with an assortment of kinoko, cream, and truffle oil. The aroma of the truffle oil was enough to whet our appetites, and the taste did not disappoint. The soup was creamy, with a deep earthy flavor that was perfectly balanced by the delicate mushrooms. It was the perfect start to our meal, and we knew we were in for a treat.
Next up, we tried the Gyoza (RM16+), which was made with minced chicken, rice wrap, and shoyu. The gyoza was perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior that gave way to a juicy and flavorful filling. The shoyu sauce added a salty and savory flavor that elevated the dish even further. We were impressed by how well the chicken filling worked with the delicate rice wrap, creating a dish that was both familiar and exciting.
After enjoying the delightful Wild Mushroom Soup and Gyoza, we were excited to try the main course. Our first dish was the Koji Hambagu Steak, which required a 25-minute wait time. But let us tell you, it was worth every minute.
The Koji Hambagu Steak (RM52+) is made with a Brazilian patty and served with truffle fries and a Caesar salad. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a juicy and flavorful patty that was a delight to bite into. The truffle fries were crispy and aromatic, and the Caesar salad was refreshing and perfectly complemented the richness of the steak. This dish was a standout for us, and we would highly recommend it.
Next up was the Truffle Scallops Pasta (RM42+), which was served with Hokkaido scallops, truffle pate, and mushroom cream. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a generous amount of plump and succulent scallops. The truffle pate and mushroom cream added a depth of flavor that made this dish unforgettable. It was a truly decadent and satisfying dish.
We also tried the Salmon Mentaiko Don (RM50+), which was a rice bowl topped with salmon and mentaiko sauce. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a beautiful pink center that was tender and flavorful. The mentaiko sauce added a rich and umami flavor that paired perfectly with the salmon. It was a simple yet delicious dish that we thoroughly enjoyed.
The drinks menu at Koji is equally exciting and offers a wide range of coolers, sake, and wine. We tried two coolers and a sake, and they were the perfect accompaniment to our meal.
The first cooler we tried was the Passion Fruit Tea (RM15+), which was refreshing and light. The passion fruit added a tangy and fruity flavor that was perfectly balanced by the tea. It was a great choice for those who want something light and refreshing to drink.
Next up was the Lychee Mint Cooler (RM16+), which was a unique and delicious combination of flavors. The lychee added a sweetness that was complemented by the mint, creating a refreshing and aromatic drink. It was a perfect choice for those who want something with a little more depth of flavor.
Of course, we couldn’t visit Koji without trying their sake. They have a range of sake available, including Bijofu, Dassai, and Masumi. We decided to try the Bijofu Tokubetsu Honjozo (carafe), and it did not disappoint. The sake was smooth and had a slightly sweet flavor that paired perfectly with our meal. It was a great way to experience traditional Japanese flavors in a modern and exciting way.
