Are you in search of a cozy and welcoming cafe in Penang where you can enjoy some delicious breakfast and coffee? Look no further than Ngopi Macalister, which is now expanding and opening its 6th branch in Jalan Macalister, George Town. Previously, they had successfully opened 1 branch in Perlis and 2 branches in Kedah.
As soon as you step into Ngopi Macalister, you’ll be greeted by a simple and cozy interior with limited seating. The atmosphere is perfect for a quick breakfast or takeaway, and there are plenty of parking spots available. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the cafe is halal-certified.
But let’s get to the main event: the sandwiches and drinks. We had the pleasure of trying out Ngopi Macalister’s signature sandwiches and drinks, and we can safely say that they are some of the best in Penang.
We tried three different sandwiches, all of which were delicious and made with high-quality ingredients. The Ciabatta Chicken Pastrami Sandwich (RM13) was a standout. The bread was perfectly toasted and the chicken and pastrami were both tender and flavorful. The lettuce and tomato added some freshness to the sandwich, and the dijon mustard sauce was tangy and delicious.
The Croissant Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich (RM13) was another hit. The croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery, and the honey mustard sauce was sweet and tangy. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned, and the sandwich as a whole was satisfying and flavorful.
Last but not least was the Focaccia Smoked Chicken Breast Sandwich (RM13). The focaccia was soft and fluffy, and the smoked chicken breast was flavorful and tender. The sun-dried tomato and pesto mayo added some extra flavor to the sandwich, and the sandwich was overall very satisfying.
We started off with the Iced Matcha Latte, which was a refreshing and creamy blend of matcha and milk. The matcha was of high quality and the milk was perfectly frothed. The drink was sweet, but not too sweet, and the matcha flavor was prominent without being overpowering.
Next up was the Iced Royal Chocolate, which was a decadent and rich treat. The chocolate was of high quality and the drink was sweet, but not overly so. The whipped cream on top was a nice touch, and the drink was overall very satisfying.
Last but not least was the Iced Cafe Latte, which was a classic coffee drink that did not disappoint. The espresso was strong and flavorful, and the milk was perfectly frothed. The drink was well-balanced and had just the right amount of sweetness.
In conclusion, Ngopi Macalister is a cozy and welcoming cafe in Penang that serves some of the best sandwiches and coffee around.
