Recently, Hola by Javu has upgraded their menu and focused on tapas, which are small plates of delicious appetizers that are perfect for sharing. During our recent visit, we decided to try out some of their new tapas dishes.
First up, we ordered the Patatas Bravas (RM16), a classic Spanish tapas dish. This dish features roasted potatoes that are served with Hola by Javu’s homemade bravas sauce. The potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the bravas sauce had just the right amount of spice and tanginess to complement the potatoes.
Next, we tried the Champinions al Ajilo (RM24), which is an assortment of mushrooms sauteed in garlic and fresh parsley, served with toasted baguette. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and the garlic and parsley added a burst of flavor to the dish. The toasted baguette was the perfect accompaniment to the mushrooms, as it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
One of the standout dishes was the Stuffed Capsicum (RM26), which featured whole bell peppers baked and stuffed with Hola by Javu’s homemade cream cheese-based stuffing. The bell peppers were perfectly cooked, and the cream cheese stuffing was rich and flavorful. This dish is a must-try for any cheese lover.
Another dish that we tried was the Hoevos Rotos (RM29), which is one of the most popular dishes in taverns all across Spain. This dish features Iberico pork and chorizo served with broken eggs on top of sour cream and chives potato. The combination of the rich and savory meat with the creamy potato and runny eggs was simply divine. This dish is perfect for brunch or as a hearty meal.
We couldn’t leave Hola by Javu without trying their seafood dishes, and the Gambas al Ajillo did not disappoint. This dish features grilled white sea prawns with garlic, chili, and olive oil. The prawns were incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the garlic and chili added a nice kick to the dish. This dish is perfect for seafood lovers and those who enjoy bold flavors.
One more dish that we tried at Hola by Javu was the Chorizo Con Chile Verde (RM28), which features grilled green chili peppers topped with feta cream cheese and sautéed chorizo. The dish is a perfect combination of spicy and creamy, with the chili pepper providing a nice heat that is balanced out by the feta cream cheese. The sautéed chorizo added a nice smoky flavor to the dish and complemented the other ingredients perfectly.
We also tried their Egg Sandwich (RM28), which features eggs with pickled Japanese cucumber topped with sundried tomato, burnt garlic, and mushroom. This sandwich is perfect for a quick and satisfying breakfast or brunch.
Another dish that we enjoyed was the Champinones y Serrano (RM36), which features cream cheese, whole mushrooms sautéed and sliced serrano ham topped with dijon aioli. The combination of the savory ham, creamy cheese, and earthy mushrooms was delicious, and the dijon aioli added a nice tangy kick to the dish.
For those looking for a vegetarian option, the Queso de Cabra Pintxos (RM28) at Hola by Javu is a must-try dish. This dish features creamy goat cheese, caramelized onion in white wine reduction, crusted walnut, topped with arugula and dates with a spritz of sherry vinegar. The combination of flavors and textures in this dish was simply divine, and it’s a perfect choice for those who want something light yet satisfying.
Apart from the tapas, we also tried their Paella de Mariscos (RM48), which is a combination of sea prawns, squid, scallops, and mussels. The paella was cooked to perfection, with each grain of rice perfectly flavored and cooked. The seafood was fresh and delicious, and the dish was well-balanced with the right amount of seasoning.
